Probability of bridge repair?

Monty asked:

An engineering firm shows that the probability is 0.2 that one of its new bridges will require repair within a year.

A) What is the probability that the tenth bridge it builds will be the second one to require repair within a year?

B) What is the probability that the sixth bridge it builds will be the first one to require repair?

You don’t have enough information to answer these questions.

It depends how often the firm builds bridges.

By the time it builds the sixth one, or the tenth one, the earlier ones could already have required repair.

To treat this as a mathematical problem, rather than an engineering one, just assume that all 10 bridges are built almost simultaneously, say in a matter of a few days
